Workspot CEO Amitabh Sinha described mobile device management (MDM) and its impact on today's organizations during a Thought Leadership Spotlight Presented by Workspot at the 2015 Chief Information Officer Leadership Forum in Dallas on March 11. In his presentation, Sinha noted that organizations should develop MDM strategies based on "things that won't change."
Sinha pointed out that organizations should never compromise on security, especially when it comes to MDM. IT professionals often focus on optimizing solutions, Sinha said, but must also find ways to deliver a user-friendly experience. If IT professionals can provide employees with quick, easy access to applications, Sinha noted, these workers can become more productive as well: "On a mobile device, it’s being able to hit an app and access that app really quickly. As an end user, I don’t have to worry about whether the app needs a browser, whether the app needs something else; it’s just pick the app you want to launch and launch it."
Simplifying IT can be difficult, Sinha said, but doing so can help an organization become more efficient. In addition, Sinha said IT professionals who devote the necessary time and resources to rethink their organization's app delivery can streamline their operations: "We’re helping IT rethink app delivery, so 60 minutes to value. That’s really important for us. We want to give a simple user experience with a single client, a simple admin experience with a single console, and yet do all this with security policies and preserve all the security requirements that IT has."
