Rana Kanaan, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Workspot, discussed how IT departments can drive speed to value during her presentation at the 2015 Chief Information Officer Leadership Forum in Los Angeles on Feb. 10. In her presentation, Kanaan noted that adopting new technologies often takes time, but IT departments can help businesses accelerate their adoption rates.
According to Kanaan, networking is crucial for today's organizations. If an organization wants to leverage new technologies quickly and efficiently, Kanaan noted, then it must reinvent its IT and ensure that its networks are flexible: "If networking changes, and it is flexible and on demand, the rest of IT infrastructure should be as well for the app layer, for the data layer, for delivering to the end users."
In addition, IT infrastructure is being reinvented, Kanaan said, and organizations must find ways to keep pace. Also, Kanaan pointed out that mobile workspaces are becoming increasingly common across the globe, and organizations need to be able to support remote workers. With workspace-as-a-service, Kanaan said, an organization can revamp its IT infrastructure and better support its employees as well: "That’s a term we call a workspace and the particular reinvention from our collective experience is that you should be able to consume that as a service, to try it out, just be able to see that it works for you in 60 minutes and not a new infrastructure but enhancing your existing infrastructure, to have one client experience which comes from the recent evolution of serve our mobile, the reality that we're in and to grow on demand. We call this workspace-as-a-service."
