Workspot CEO Amitabh Sinha discussed the value of application delivery and data security during his presentation at the 2014 Chief Information Officer Leadership Forum in San Francisco on Oct. 28. In his presentation, Sinha pointed out that there are several requirements to securely deliver apps and data to an endpoint.
According to Sinha, balancing the user experience and security is a major challenge for organizations. However, Sinha noted a “control pane architecture” is important because it can help an organization simplify the user experience. In addition, Sinha said an organization that constantly evaluates its user experience and security measures ultimately can deliver apps and data safely: “Think of the experience most people have when you’re at home and you want to access work. You fire up your PC, you log into your PC, you fire up your VPN, you log into your VPN, you fire up a browser then log into the app. That’s a multiple-minute experience, and we took that experience and moved it down to two seconds.”
Building security into a user interface is key, Sinha said. If an organization recognizes the value of a control pane architecture, Sinha added, it can assist its users and minimize security risks simultaneously: “We’ve simplified [the user interface] from and end user experience perspective, but we also simplified it from an IT perspective. We call it a control pane architecture because even though you’re controlling everything from the cloud, there is no data that ever flows through our cloud.”
